Numlock on startup

I had a customer who wanted his Numlock key to be turned on every time his computer starts. Now, there are several way to achieve this, and the most popular one is enabling this functionality in BIOS itself.

Of course, some companies limit the access by registering a password to access BIOS, so there is no way that the user can access it unless an onsite technician comes over and set it up for them.

Here’s a way to do it yourself – the easy way.

What you need to do first is open a blank notepad and type these in :

set WshShell = CreateObject(“WScript.Shell”)
WshShell.SendKeys “{NUMLOCK}”

Save it as numlockon.vbs

Next, store it on your Startup folder. An easy access to this is to click START > All Programs > right click on ‘Startup’ and click OPEN

startup

Once you have Startup folder open, just paste numlockon.vbs there and it will automatically set your Numlock to ON state everytime you start your computer.

That was easy, wasn’t it 🙂
