Overhead Speedcam @ Elite (KM90)

July 31, 2009

Now, this is really an old and outdated news. But it suprises me that one of my colleague here who passes the overhead bridge (although not that often) still does not know about the existance of these speedcameras.

3 speedcams

Well, now you know – and there’s not one but 3 of em! It’s on Elite highway kilometre 90 from KLIA to Batu 3 (not sure about the other side of the road).

Record phone conversations automatically on your Windows Mobile

July 29, 2009

The guys at XDA-Developers had done it again. Although there were numerous other softwares which can automatically record your phone calls – they lack one important feature, which is to record the other party conversation in non-speakerphone mode.

Well, this one does it without you turning the speakerphone on. And it works very well with the Samsung i780 (as well as other WM devices out there!)

Now I may not be the first to now this (and I am sure I am not the last either!) – but Youtube had officially released a Youtube viewer for the Windows Mobile platform.

Previously I have been using those ported apps from HTC devices to watch Youtube videos. It does work, but there are some drawbacks such as slow buffer speed, not-so-good picture quality, and stuffs..

Video Shooting Tips (Part2) – Create slow motions from normal .avi and reduce camera shake

July 27, 2009

You might still remember a few weeks back – I volunteered to be a wedding videographer (with some minor hiccups).

I spent my free time editing those footages on my computer with Sony Vegas (I’m a newbie) but had some issues creating slow motion clips (I had no issue when I used Pinnacle Studio Plus before). For some reason, the slow motion clips were very choppy although the frame-per-second (fps) were set high.

Fortunately I stumbled across Dynapel Motionperfect that can create slow motion videos from normal .avi files. It’s very easy to use and more importantly get the jobs done.

And, I found another Dynapel product which can eliminate shakey cams as well.

Use your Windows Mobile device as a webcam

July 24, 2009

Although webcams are not expensive these days, but hey.. one of the focused things on this website is ‘to save more money!‘. And if you own yourself a Windows Mobile device – here’s how you can turn that into a PC webcam device (and yes, keep all the cords aside as this works via WIFI as well! – so that makes it better than a real webcam?!).

Any Windows Mobile phones should work with this, as well as Symbian phones.

Run Android on your PC

July 22, 2009

I read about this at Slashgear and it seems that the Xperia X3 runs on Android. The specs as below :

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X3 Android smartphone specs confirmed by Expansys
Listed as the SEMXP3_BLK_UK, the Android smartphone has an 8-megapixel camera, dualband 900/2100MHz HSDPA (10Mbps) and HSUPA (2Mbps) as well as Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi b/g and A-GPS.

I wonder why they call it as smartphone? It is a touch screen device afterall… I thought that smartphones are for non touch screen devices?

Anyway, I have no idea on what’s the hype about Android. But for those who wanted to try it out – hands on, on your computer. Read on…

Disable the Virtual Keyboard on Windows Mobile

July 22, 2009

The virtual keyboard really helps and often automatically pops up when you click on any text field in Windows Mobile. But when you have a device which already have a physical keyboard, it’s annoying how these virtual keyboard pops out automatically and distract your view by decreasing your view space of the actual documents or applications.

Of course, there are softwares which you can install to disable this, but I still prefer the easy and clean reg tweak. Here’s how you do it.

Initializing the root folders to display bug!

July 21, 2009

It’s not a bug really.. but that what happened to one of my customer who was stucked there for about 5 minutes every time she wants to save any word documents on her network drive.

error initializing

This happened because you have a disconnected network drive hanging around somewhere. Open My Computer and set your view details, check for any disconnected network drives, right click on it and select disconnect.

That should solve the issue 🙂
