Track data usage on your Windows Mobile phone

August 27, 2009

Based on my last post regarding Hotlink mobile internet prepaid – I found this software by SPB which track your Internet usage on your mobile.

track your internet usage

I personally have not tried this yet, but it would be a great tool to have – especially if your service provider charges you a different rate when you have exceeded your download limit as it provides a notification so you can manage your usage better.

With Hotlink prepaid, the Internet is anywhere!

August 27, 2009

If some of you were wondering why this site was dead for quite some time, it’s because WordPress had accidentally frozen my account due to a system error. I don’t think it’s a common issue (maybe they liked my blog so much) šŸ™‚ And yes they have apologized – so it’s not a big deal.

Anyway I have good news for Hotlink prepaid customers. Internet on your mobile, at an (almost) affordable cost.

Ok let’s be honest, for me, I personally thinkĀ it is still a little bit pricey – but hey, at least you could use it for emergency purposes and yes I have ran through those ’emergency’ situations without any success in finding any internet services nearby – it’s very frustrating!

And I am glad to know now that I can access the internet, at ease, with my mobile – at a slightly cheaper rate of course šŸ˜‰

Games (Emulator) on Samsung i780

August 18, 2009

I know some frustrated Samsung i780 users out there that are limited by the number of games which the device can run (and playable). Not only because of it’s square screen size (320 x 320) which is not a standard for most Windows Mobile phone, but also because of it’s missing physical navigation keypads! (yes ok you can cry now I understand).

Still, there are tons of games which you can play on the Samsung i780. These includes Nintendo, Sega, Gameboy, Gameboy Advanced, etcs – by using an Emulator software.

The emulator software allows you to map navigation keys to the Samsung i780 physical keyboard (although it’s a bit stiffy but hey it works!) – with only one minor drawback… Samsung i780 were designed in a way that it only recognize one keypress at a time. So basically how can you run and jump at the same time if the Samsung only capture one keypress even though 2 keys were pressed simultaneously?

That’s where this software comes in handy…

In the days of modern living – you can grab freeĀ WIFI from all over the place – KFC, Starbucks, Kenny Rogers – heck I even know of a local restaurant at a small town that offers free WIFI! Everyone is just so tempted to be online.

But are you aware of the dangerous possibilities that may occur by using these free services?

Honda City Gearbox issue?

August 12, 2009

If your RPM goes up and down when you’re going uphill, or when you sudden accelerate – that is NOT the symptom of a gearbox failure!

Based on my research, most had their problem solved by replacing their auto transmission ‘clutch’. Yes, the City does have clutch, and within a few years, it will wear out just like any other manual or auto transmission cars.

Of course, some Service Centers are just like your ordinary workshops (or worst!) – instead of telling you that it’s a clutch problem, they will just go ahead and say it’s a gearbox failure. To change the technologically advanced CVT gearbox of the City will set you back around RM20K+ or so, and that is really expensive.

Want a cheaper solution? That is the primary focus of this site! So come on in and read more about it…

Remove noise from video

August 10, 2009

Capturing videos under low lighting conditions can be quite a challenge, especially if you do not have any additional lighting or using a low-end camcorders which will result in a lot of noise or grainsĀ on your footages.

If you think that is the end and about to throw away that 5 years old camcorder of yours, think twice, because there are still hope to get good quality videos with your unworthy outputs.

NeatVideo

Pictured above is one of my project – as you can see the subject (which is captured under a low light condition) produced a very (kinda) pixelated image (see picture on the right) – these are actually noise as the subject was captured under a dim lighting environment.

However, after a bit of processing (see picture on the left) we are able to eliminate most noises out from the scene.

Here’s how I do it…

Audio Notes Touch for Windows Mobile

August 6, 2009

I had this nifty application on my Palm Treo several years ago which can record audio on a press of a button. Now that I have a Windows Mobile based phone, I came across Audio Notes Touch that does the same thing.

Audio Notes Touch

It comesĀ with anĀ Iphone like interface with aĀ very clean black GUI.Ā I foundĀ it to be a bit incompatible with theĀ Samsung i780 mouse as it leaves some trailmarks across the screen during interactions (however, I do have RealVGA installed, so it could fall back to that) – but of course, it’s just a minor issue and you could always use the touchscreen to navigate.

Skype works great on Samsung i780

August 6, 2009

I did some test with Skype the other day and it worked great with WIFI on the Samsung i780 with RealVGA installed.

skype on windows mobile

Oh, in case you do not know, Skype is a Peer2Peer (P2P) application that allows you to chat via text and voice – just like your normal phone, to another Skype user.

The only issue I had was not able to change the ringtone (which is capable on PC platform) šŸ˜›

Come in to read my basic review and download the application for free on your Windows Mobile and Symbian devices.
