Dorimanx-ROM-HIGH-END 2.7.6 – part 2

August 24, 2011

Today we will continue the Dorimanx-ROM-HIGH-END 2.7.6 review (Previous review here). Good news is that I’m still using it.

Better news is that I am liking it, and it feels smooth and fluid. However, will it deserves my star award? Will I accept it to be my partner for this whole week? Only time will tell.. let’s have a look at more reviews of Dorimanx 2.7.6 ROM, the dialer, strange RAM management,  storage, keyboard, messaging, and a whole lot more to be uncovered …

ROM Review – Dorimanx-ROM-HIGH-END 2.7.6

August 22, 2011

At time of writing, there’s already a newer version out – however, as many (including myself) experienced lots of issues with version 2.7.7 so I have been recommended by XDA member Bologna to try version 2.7.6 instead for my review.

I admit that my previous ROM reviews were unorganized and scattered all over.. I mean, I write for fun – and I actually blog for myself really – because I have problems remembering things. However, when I put something down – I have great memory on where to FIND things and their source. So that is why I started blogging – so when I can’t remember something, I remember where to find for them – at my blog!

And this week thanks goes to : dorimanx

Hopefully this review will be better and more organized than my previous reviews, although comments are welcomed and I always take it as positive feedback – listening is important, as you will never learn if you don’t!

ROM Review – WP7 7592 Green Mango

August 13, 2011

I must say I am very excited to review the first Windows Phone 7 ROM for the HTC HD2 here on my very blog. I have tried several ROMs prior to this, but I believe the WP7 7592 Green Mango is one of the best.

First of all, let me begin by saying WP7 sucks.. why? Because I see it as a pre-mature OS, that have so many ‘missing‘ features. When WP7 was first launch, I can sense that something was wrong somewhere.. either Microsoft was all out on aggressive marketing to sway Iphone and Android (urm ok not forgetting Blackberries) users (now where is that Symbian, sorry, who cares :P) that they have simply ignored their hot oven timer to completely cook instead they just took it all out, and started selling these half-cooked biscuits (it was quite yummy, but most had to spit it out before they could finish).

I know I may get some flame with hardcore WP7 users out there, but thinking that my blog only hit around 50 to 100 unique visitors a day.. maybe these hardcore WP7 fan can come in and boost my rank a bit instead? Lol.. Anyway, moving on to the review!

ByeBye TyphooN!

August 12, 2011

Before the flame starts, let me clarify that this is a nightly build. So errors and bugs were expected since day 1.

There is a newer version available on the original xda-developers thread. However many still rants about having boot issues, and this and that..

I personally had to spend hours in front of my computer as the unit was in a boot-loop, missing ext partition, dissappearing downloads (this really gets on my nerves), and the ROM comes with no default browser which was a real pain! Not to mention I have to create a 1GB ext partition, and a 128MB swap to make this ROM boot (not sure about how you guys do it), but it’s just ‘too much work’ for a custom ROM.

So bye-bye Typhoon, until we see a final release, I’m staying off from this one.

Great news is that we’ll have a new ROM to review within the next few days, so stay tuned!

TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.5.4

August 10, 2011

At time of writing, a newer version (3.5.5) is out, as this is a nightly version. What is a ‘nightly’ version you may ask? Is it dark.. and only works in the night? LOL.. actually the term represents a non official built, let’s say it’s still being worked on and there may be bugs and glitches where a newer version will be released soon. So yes, there may be improvement over the 3.5.4 version which I am trying right now, but for the review, I need to begin somewhere right?

So this week thanks goes to : tyween

This ROM runs on Gingerbread 2.3.5. My eye almost pops out as I’ve previously used HyperDroid-CM7-v2.1.0 which have it’s dpi tweaked (so everything seems smaller). Getting back to standard dpi just makes everything seems so big and huge.

So will this ROM be with me for another 5 days? I already had some problems with it earlier.. so let’s have a look shall we?

HyperDroid-CM7-v2.1.0 – Overclocking, Battery Life & FM Radio

August 8, 2011

So here it is, I guess the last episode of HyperDroid-CM7-v2.1.0 review. It didn’t bore me or caused me any (apart from some minor) issues. And I felt good in using this ROM as my daily driver.

As the build is based on CyanogenMod, under CyanogenMod Settings, there are option for Performance where you are able to Overclock or Downclock your HD2 as necessary, either for performance, or to save more battery life if you are not using much CPU intensive applications.

Speaking about battery life has become very subjective …

HyperDroid-CM7-v2.1.0 – Microphone volume issue

August 4, 2011

After a few hours using the HyperDroid-CM7-v2.1.0 ROM, now I remembered the reason why I switched to another ROM. It’s the damn over sensitive microphone which cracks the ear out of the other end.

As the original developer had stepped out for a while to make some time for his new born baby, we can’t (or won’t?) be expecting any updates from him in the near future perhaps. However, there is a possible workaround to make it better (or maybe a slight fix).

If you love sticking to this ROM, read on and I’ll show you how easy to urm.. half-fix this.

HTC HD2 ROM Review – HyperDroid-CM7-v2.1.0

August 2, 2011

The HyperDroid ROM is not ‘the new kid in the block’. It’s been around for quite some time.. In a matter of fact, I have previously used this ROM, and now I’m taking my time to take it for a spin and write a review about it.

Now this is another ROM running on Gingerbread 2.3.4. From my personal view, one thing that sets this apart is the density of the screen (default set at 167dpi) which looks great because you are able to squeeze more thing and see more than the usual stock Android dpi (which is at 240dpi).

So this week thanks goes to : pongster

So, you might ask “This ROM got the looks” – anything else on the menu? Well, we are about to find out more (within a week of review) so come step in and have a look for yourself.

JW MIUI-9July ROM – Call Recording

July 29, 2011

This is episode 4 of the JW MIUI-9July ROM review which is also accessible via The ROM specs page which this time I will cover about ‘Call Recording’ functionality that you may use with the JW-MIUI-9July ROM, for free of course.

I have previously covered ‘call recording‘ on Windows Mobile before. So if you’re looking for that, please head over > HERE <

Now let me show you how easy it is to set this up in no time.

JW MIUI-9July ROM – Flash and Battery life

July 27, 2011

So it’s back to the review. This is episode 3 of the JW MIUI-9July ROM review where previously we had looked into some built in applications, camera quality, and how well the ROM handles the HD2 as a real phone. And honestly so far I’ve been pleased and have no regrets in using this ROM as my daily driver.

So in this episode, I’m going to do what all Android users proudly do with their Android devices. And yes, it’s flash playback with the latest Adobe Flash Player 10.3 and how well it performs on the JW MIUI-9July ROM, and I bet you want to know it too…
